LES PRODUCTIONS MILLE-PATTES
Brief history The production in 1982 of La Bottine Souriante's third album marked an important step when the group released it on their own record label, Les Disques Mille-Pattes. Eleven years later, in 1993, finding themselves at the top of the traditional music "chart" in Québec and a role model for a new generation of musicians, La Bottine Souriante decided to go a step further and incorporate the record label and production company under the name Les Productions Mille-Pattes. By choice, our offices are based in the Lanaudière region of Québec where La Bottine Souriante began their voyage. This region, renowned as the heart of the Québec music world, is home to an almost impossibly rich musical heritage which continues to inspire classical as well as tratitional musicians, as well as everything between. For many years, Mille-Pattes has been developing the tools necessary to introduce audiences to the traditional music of Québec, presenting artists of the highest caliber, "transmitters" of a unique and very-much-alive cultural heritage. With the idea of introducing this very-much alive culture to the world, Mille-Pattes has rendered hommage to the roots and sources of Québécois tradition via its newborn collections in 1997 : TRADITION * QUÉBEC and CONTE * QUÉBEC. Under these banners can be found albums by artists dedicated to the discovery and interpretation of pieces from the prolific québécois repertoire, arranged with a retraint and an ear for the essence that marks the musical tradition of this culture. Comparativeley the collection TRADITION * FUSION, even though inspired by traditional repertoire, is more audacious with arrangements inspired by different musical styles.
